Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Ashlie Atkinson
Chip Sfat

Balance School of Performing Arts first opened its doors August 2015 in the heart of Penticton.

Owners Ashlie Atkinson & Chip Sfat dreamt of opening a school that offered all aspects of the performing arts world. They both come from very different artistic backgrounds and were excited to blend together and share what they both learnt from their years of experience as students, performers, and teachers.ā€‹Chip grew up in Romania studying Vaganova Ballet technique and then later on travelled all over Europe performing. Ashlie was born and raised here in Penticton and is so thrilled to be back home sharing what her 10 years away performing taught her. Together this husband and wife team focus on bringing the best quality of training to the youth of Penticton by having instructors who have been on stage themselves.

For more information on our teaching faculty, visit our instructors page to read their biographies. ā€‹

The goal for all their students is to prepare them for going out into the world with self-confidence, creativity, drive, and passion for whatever they may pursue. To always find that “Balance” in life to take on any challenge.
