CLASSES
Creative Dance
Creative Dance is based on 15 movement concepts most of which are pairs and antonyms, such as high-low levels, strong-light weight, and curved-straight pathways. These concepts are affective because children learn easily through opposites. When we explore all these concepts, in multiple music and artistic mediums, we move with strong and light force, sharp and smooth energy, fast and slow tempo, free and bound flow, single and multi focus, in curved and straight pathways, on and off balance, and much more, resulting in skill development, creative expression and great communication skills. A great intro to dance!
Ballet
We offer Preschool, Pre-Teen, Teen Rec and Competitive ballet classes. Our Instructors are certified in R.A.D., Cecchetti, and Vaganova techniques.
Pointe
This class is by invitation only. Ballet teachers will determine if the student is physically and technically ready for this discipline.
Lyrical
Born in the early 20th century, modern dance is a dance style that focuses on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing. Students must take ballet to register for this class.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
Musical Theatre
Acting, vocals and broadway jazz movement techniques are brought together and performed to songs from popular musicals. This class focuses on stage presences through improv acting building confident performers and people.
Jazz
Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, Contemporary and Lyrical. Jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.
Tap
The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies
Acrobatic Arts
A dance form that enables students to gradually build the strength they need to execute acrobatic tricks correctly and safely. Acrobatique teaches that everything must come from a place of strength and that there are no shortcuts. Acrodance is a beautiful art form that combines dance with acrobatic skills. It is mandatory for students to take a ballet and/or jazz class for this program (For primary acro, jazz is not required but highly recommended)
Stretch & Strength
We offer Preschool, Pre-Teen, Teen Rec and Competitive ballet classes. Our Instructors are certified in R.A.D., Cecchetti, and Vaganova techniques.
Acting
In our acting classes students use their imagination to ground themselves in character, expand their senses while using the space, and dig deep into the circumstances that the character must live. In the classes, students learn to build their work from the inside out by asking the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of a character, and learn to seek out the truest expression and life of that person
